Bass in Fields of Gold Rapeseed

Fields of Gold

Inspired by the vibrant photo/blogger phenomenon. The scenic beauty of these picturesque blooming rapeseed landscapes provides an ideal backdrop, drawing in not only professional photographers but also amateur enthusiasts and social media influencers, all eager to capture the serene and colorful essence of their local region.

I simply saw it as the unconventional perfect match for my Metallic Gold Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass.

Denmark’s rapeseed fields transform the countryside each spring, typically blooming from late April through May. These brilliant yellow expanses stretch across the Danish landscape, creating one of nature’s most photogenic seasonal displays. For this Bass Journey, I ventured into the countryside during peak bloom, when the fields glow almost neon under the spring sun.

The connection between the metallic gold finish of the Jack Casady and these golden fields felt inevitable. This semi-hollow signature bass, with its distinctive single pickup and vintage-inspired aesthetic, deserves backdrops as unconventional as its design. Where better to photograph a bass that Jack Casady himself used to help define the psychedelic rock sound of Jefferson Airplane than in a landscape that feels slightly surreal?

Finding the right location involved scouting several fields around Copenhagen. Danish farmers are generally welcoming to photographers during rapeseed season – it’s become part of the cultural calendar – but it’s always worth being respectful of crops and property. I found this particular field on the island of Funen, where the light hits perfectly in late afternoon, creating that warm glow that complements the bass’s finish.

What is the yellow crop in the fields?

It’s rapeseed. The term “rapeseed” originates from the Latin word “rapum,” which means turnip. Rapeseed is botanically related to turnip, rutabaga (swede), cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and mustard.

No basses where harmed or injured during this Bass Journey If you want to explore the basses on this journey, feel free to take a trip to The Bass Vault.
