2015 Fender Duff McKagan Signature Jazz Bass Special, Pearl White (Mexico)
Year: 2015 – 2016
Finish/Color: Pearl White
Made in: Mexico
Factory/Plant: Ensenada
The original blueprint is the 1984–1987 Made-in-Japan Fender Jazz Bass Special: a short-lived oddity that married the heft of a Precision body to the speed of a Jazz neck with a P/J pickup layout years before that combination went mainstream. Duff bought one new, played it through every GNR album, and Fender eventually reissued the concept as his signature – built in Mexico, fitted with a vintage-style split-coil Precision pickup in the middle position and a Seymour Duncan STKJ2B Jazz pickup at the bridge, routed through a 3-way toggle and a master volume.
Side story: Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan also played a Fender Aerodyne bass during the Velvet Revolver days.
