Boutique DNA, Rolling Stones soul The Darryl Jones signature is far more than a standard Jazz clone; it features a unique, downsized offset body with aggressive curves and deeper cutaways for superior balance. This 2006 Skyline model is a prime example of Lakland’s golden era Indonesian production. It features a fast Maple neck with a genuine Rosewood fingerboard and classic block inlays. Most importantly, it retains the original Lakland “Oval” bridge, a masterpiece of engineering that allows for both top-loading and through-body stringing. This gives you total control over string tension and resonance, allowing this Lake Placid Blue beauty to bark with that signature ’70s bridge-position growl.
Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones, Miles Davis) spent months refining this neck profile with Lakland to perfectly mimic his favorite 1966 Fender. To ensure that boutique feel, this neck was finished using Plek technology – the same computer-controlled fret leveling used on Lakland’s $4,000 USA models. By combining that microscopic precision with the versatility of the dual-access bridge, this bass offers a level of playability usually reserved for the high-end custom shop market. It’s the ultimate pro-spec instrument in a stunning vintage finish.
