Rickenbacker 4003, Fireglo
Year: 2012
Finish/Color: Fireglo
Made in: USA
Factory/Plant: Santa Ana, California
The Ric growl & Rick-O-Sound The 4003 is the refined evolution of the classic 4001, built to handle the higher tension of modern roundwound strings while retaining that unmistakable mid-range punch. This 2012 model features the iconic neck-through-body construction using high-grade Maple, providing the sustain that made players like Chris Squire and Geddy Lee legends. Of course, it wouldn’t be a 4003 without the Rick-O-Sound stereo output, allowing you to send your neck and bridge pickups to two different amplifiers – the secret to achieving that massive, bi-amped crunch that defines the Rickenbacker legacy.
This Fireglo beauty has a bit of international flair – it was hand-picked from the famous GUITAR SHOP in Barcelona, located on the legendary Calle Tallers. Aside from its travels, this 2012 iteration includes the vintage tone circuit. By pulling up on the treble volume knob, you engage a capacitor that thins out the low end of the bridge pickup, perfectly mimicking the thinner, clankier tone of the 1960s 4001 models. It’s effectively two legendary basses in one elegant, California-made package!
