The First-Gen gold standard This isn’t your average Squier. This 1st-generation Classic Vibe ’60s Jazz Bass (crafted in China) is part of the legendary “Gold Logo” run that shocked the industry. Built with a resonant Basswood body and a genuine Rosewood fingerboard – a premium spec now largely replaced by Indian Laurel – this bass delivers an authentic warm, vintage thump. The hardware is equally impressive, featuring the heavy-duty 4-saddle HiMass bridge with Brass Barrel saddles, providing massive sustain and a rock-solid low-end usually reserved for instruments three times its price.
Collectors specifically hunt for the “CN” serial number models like this one because of their custom electronics. Unlike standard entry-level pickups, these were fitted with Custom Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups designed to mimic the clarity and growl of a 1960s Fender. Another period-correct detail is the gloss-tinted neck and vintage-style frets, which give the bass a broken-in feel right out of the box. Many purists argue that this specific era of Classic Vibe production rivaled Fender’s own Mexican-made standards, making them the ultimate “sleeper” basses for pro players.
